Introduction
The Faculty of Agriculture at Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University (PJTAU) stands at the forefront of agricultural education in Telangana. The academic programs are so formulated to enable empowerment of the next generation of agricultural professionals who will shape the future of sustainable farming and rural development. The programs emphasize a balanced approach combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on field experience, supported by modern laboratories, research stations, and fully equipped instructional farms. The curriculum is designed to address regional and global challenges in agriculture, including crop improvement, plant protection, climate-resilient farming, soil health, water management and agri-entrepreneurship.

Preamble
The B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture is a four-year professional degree programme that integrates core agricultural sciences, emerging technologies, and practical field applications. The curriculum is structured to help students progress from fundamental concepts to applied sciences. The first three years focus on core courses, while the final year emphasizes on Student READY programmes and electives. From the academic year 2024–25, the VI Deans’ Curriculum has been adopted, introducing online courses, skill enhancement modules, multidisciplinary and value-added courses and ability enhancement programmes, along with the Deeksharambh (Induction-cum-Foundation Course).
Student READY (Rural Entrepreneurship Awareness Development Yojana) Launched on 25 July 2015 by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, the Student READY programme aims to provide hands-on training that enhances employability and fosters entrepreneurship among agriculture graduates.
Future Career
All the below mentioned components of the student READY programme are interactive and are conceptualized for building skills in project development and execution, decision-making, individual and team coordination, approach to problem solving, accounting, quality control, marketing and resolving conflicts, etc. with end to end approach.
V Deans curriculum
- Rural Agricultural Work Experience Programme (RAWEP)

- Agricultural Experiential Learning Programme (AELP)
The 7 th semester comprises of two components i.e., RAWEP for 4 months with 0+18 credits and AIA for 2 months with 0+2 credits. During the final 8 th semester, AELP shall be taken up for a duration of 5 months with 0+20 credits.

During the 8 th semester, RAWEP for 16 weeks and AIA for 4 weeks shall be completed with 0+20 credits.
Rural Agricultural Work Experience Programme (RAWEP)
- Understand rural settings, farming practices, and farmer challenges.
- Learn socio-economic conditions of farmers.
- Gain practical diagnostic and remedial training for real field situations.
- Develop communication skills for technology transfer.
- Build confidence and competence to solve agricultural problems.
- Get exposure to ongoing extension and rural development programs.
Agricultural Industrial Attachment
- Mandatory final year in-plant training to gain practical, industry-based knowledge.
- Study real industrial problems and submit reports to the university.
- Get exposure to high-tech industry practices and requirements.
- Understand industrial environments beyond university simulation.
- Learn about materials, machines, processes, products and shop management.
- Gain insight into worker psychology, problem-solving and factory practices.
Agricultural Experiential Learning Programme (AELP)
