Dr. S. Upender, Associate Dean
Dr. S. Upendhar is currently serving as Associate Dean, Babu Jagjivan Ram Agricultural College, Sircilla, under Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University (PJTAU). He possesses over 18 years and 9 months of professional experience in teaching and academic administration.
He began his career as Assistant Professor at Agricultural College, Aswaraopet, and later served as Associate Professor at Agricultural College, Jagtial, where he established a Sericulture Unit under the ICAR Experiential Learning Programme (ELP) with external funding support of ₹25 lakhs. The unit serves as a valuable platform for student experiential learning and farmer training. He also served as Professor, Department of Entomology, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar.
Dr. Upendhar has 18 years of teaching experience, guided 9 M.Sc. and 4 Ph.D. students. He has received several prestigious recognitions, including the Best Employee Award (2015), PJTSAU Best Teacher Award (2017), Professor M. S. Swaminathan Best Scientist Award (2020), Agricultural Scientist Award (2022), Indo Pacific Best Teacher Award (2023), and Best Oral Presentation Award at ICPHM-2023.
His scholarly contributions include 39 Research Papers, 70 Popular Articles, and 10 Radio talks, along with active membership in 10 National and International Professional Societies. Dr. Upendhar is widely recognized for his leadership, academic excellence, institutional development initiatives, and contributions to agricultural entomology, farmer outreach, and sustainable agricultural development.
More About Our College
The Agricultural College, Sircilla was established in the academic year, 2018-19 at Sardapur, Sircilla, as a constituent college of Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University (PJTAU). It offers a four-year undergraduate program leading to B. Sc. (Hons.) in Agriculture. In 2023, the college was relocated to a newly developed campus at Jillella Village, Thangallapally Mandal, approximately 17 km from Sircilla town. Subsequently, in 2024, it was renamed as Babu Jagjivan Ram Agricultural College. As of the 2024-25 academic year, the college has a total enrollment of 497 students, reflecting its continued growth and academic progress.
College
Babu Jagjivan Ram Agricultural College, Sircilla features a well-planned academic infrastructure comprising four teaching blocks and one administrative block. Classrooms are equipped with smart boards, LCD projectors, and other modern teaching aids to facilitate the delivery of quality and technology-enabled education.
The college boasts well-equipped laboratories that provide students with hands-on training in critical areas such as soil, plant, and water analysis, seed germination and purity testing, silkworm rearing, vermicompost production, mushroom cultivation, and bio-fertilizer production. These practical learning environments support skill development and experiential learning.
In addition to academic facilities, the college includes a Knowledge Management Centre, a Language Lab, an Amphitheatre, an Auditorium, a spacious Examination Hall (with a seating capacity for 150 students), and a Committee Hall for meetings and seminars. To support student welfare and professional growth, the college has established several functional units, including an active Placement Cell, JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) Cell, Women Protection Cell, Student Grievance Redressal Cell, and SC/ST Cell, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and opportunity-rich environment for all students.
Hostels
The College provides well-established residential facilities through Siri Girls Hostel and Rajanna Boys Hostel, both offering a comfortable and conducive living environment for students. Each hostel comprises two blocks, with a total of 30 well-ventilated rooms per block, ensuring adequate space and privacy.
The hostels are equipped with modern amenities including well-maintained kitchens, spacious dining hall, mineral water plant for safe drinking water, TV hall for recreation, and gymnasium to support students’ physical fitness. Additionally, Sewage Treatment Plant is installed near the hostel premises to ensure effective waste water management and maintain water quality, contributing to a sustainable and hygienic living environment.
