KVK, Palem conducted a Diagnostic Field Visit in Cotton, Maize, Paddy, Chilli, and Vegetable crops (Bhendi and Bitter gourd) on 14.08.2026 at Kalwakurthy and Tadoor villages. During the field visit, Dr. O. Shaila, SMS (Plant Protection), KVK, Palem has recorded the following observations: Cotton: Crop was at the square formation stage. Sucking pest complex comprising aphids, jassids, and mealybugs was observed above the ETL. Maize: Crop was at the vegetative stage. Fall Armyworm (FAW) incidence with a score of 6 and shoot fly incidence (10% dead hearts) were observed. Paddy: Transplanting was under progress. Stem borer incidence was observed below the ETL. Vegetables: In bhendi and bitter gourd, sucking pests and powdery mildew incidence were observed. Chilli: Crop was at the flowering stage. Thrips damage and viral-infected plants were observed. Dr. O. Shaila, SMS (Plant Protection), KVK, Palem, made need-based agro-advisories to the farmers on appropriate pest and disease management measures, emphasizing timely monitoring and adoption of integrated pest management practices
