Training programme on ‘Agroforestry systems’ and ‘Distribution of Inputs” under Tribal Sub Plan (Agroforestry) by AICRP ON AGROFORESTRY, on 07-07-2026
A training programme on ‘Agroforestry systems’ and ‘Distribution of Inputs’ was organized by AICRP on Agroforestry, PJTAU, Hyderabad at Somajipally Thanda village, Bommalaramaram mandal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district on 07-07-2026 under Tribal Sub Plan (Agroforestry) funded by ICAR-Central Agroforestry Research Institute (CAFRI), Jhansi, U.P. The programme was attended by Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu, Pr. Scientist (Agro.) & Head and Dr. D. Vijaya Lakshmi, Scientist (SSAC) from AICRP on Agroforestry, Smt. N. Durgeshwari, Agricultural Officer, Smt. A. Varalaxmi, AEO, Bommalaramaram mandal, Smt. D. Vijaya Lakshmi, Chairman, Dheerasali Raithu Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited, Solipet village, and 15 beneficiary farmers.
At the outset, Dr. Vijaya Lakshmi welcomed all the dignitaries and farmers for the training programme and also narrated main objectives as distribution of saplings and certain tools and enhance awareness about Agroforestry and trees. Dr. Ramanjaneyulu explained about silviculture techniques for profitable cultivation of sandalwood, soapnut, redsanders, eucalyptus, subabul, mahogany, malabar neem, fruit trees (mango, custard apple, guava, jamun), Agrosforestry systems including bund plantation, border plantation, additional income from intercrops, marketing problems etc., in detail. Smt. Durgeshwari suggested the farmers to follow the Agroforestry advisories given by scientists and agriculture department officials in view of El Nino for achieving sustainability and profitability. The Chairman of FPC thanked the scientists for choosing their village and creating awareness on Agroforestry through their FPC under TSP and assured fullest support. At the end, 15 kurpis, 15 pruning saws and 1330 saplings (Mahogany-400, Bambusa tulda-430, Mango-150, Guava-150 and custard apple-200) were distributed to 15 beneficiary farmers of the village.
