The World Hepatitis Day was observed on 28th July, 2026 under the aegis of Red Ribbon Club, Agricultural College, Palem to raise awareness about viral hepatitis, its prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment. The programme aimed to educate students and staff about the importance of maintaining liver health and eliminating the stigma associated with hepatitis.
The programme commenced with welcome address highlighting the global significance of World Hepatitis Day. The observance was aligned with the World Health Organization (WHO) theme for 2026, “Hepatitis: Let’s Break It Down,” which emphasizes breaking barriers to prevention, testing, treatment, and care for viral hepatitis.
Student members of the Red Ribbon club delivered informative talks on the different types of viral hepatitis, their modes of transmission, preventive measures, vaccination, early diagnosis, and available treatment options. Students were encouraged to adopt healthy lifestyles, practice good hygiene, and spread awareness within their families and communities about hepatitis prevention.
As part of the programme, students actively participated in an awareness campaign that included educational presentations and interactive discussions. The event emphasized the importance of timely screening, vaccination against hepatitis B, and eliminating misconceptions surrounding the disease.
Dr.V.Anitha, Associate Dean (FAC) appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee and encouraged students to become ambassadors of health awareness by promoting preventive healthcare practices not only in campus but also within the community. The programme concluded with a Vote of thanks by Dr.V.Swarnalatha, Mentor of Red Ribbon and Social Activity Club, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to creating awareness about public health issues and contributing to a healthier society.
The observance of World Hepatitis Day served as an effective platform to educate the college community about viral hepatitis and reinforced the message that awareness, early detection, vaccination, and timely treatment are essential steps toward eliminating hepatitis as a public health threat.
