The Women Protection Cell, Agricultural College, Warangal, organised a guest lecture on “Women’s Protection: Legal Rights and Legislative Aspects” on 10.07.2026. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr.V. Ravinder Naik, Associate Dean, Agricultural College, Warangal coordinated by Dr.S.Malathi, Chairman, Women Protection Cell.

The guest speaker, Smt. V.Padmaja, Advocate and District Legal Advisor, addressed the gathering and created awareness among students about women’s legal rights, legislative aspects, and the measures available to overcome discrimination and harassment in educational institutions and workplaces.

During the lecture, she emphasized that the protection, dignity and equal rights of women are the responsibility of every citizen. She explained that offences such as dowry harassment, domestic violence, family-related abuse, sexual harassment, gang rape, cyber harassment, child abuses, and ragging in educational institutions are punishable under law. Speaker also highlighted the severe impact these crimes have on the victims, their families, and society, and urged everyone to act responsibly in ensuring the safety and security of women.

She reminded the students that the Constitution of India guarantees women the right to equality, dignity, and legal protection. She advised that victims of dowry harassment, domestic violence, sexual harassment, rape, cybercrime, or ragging should immediately approach the police or the concerned authorities and lodge a complaint. She explained that every woman has the right to legal aid, protection, privacy, and justice under the law, and that both the Government and the judiciary are taking stringent measures against such offences.

The speaker further stressed that eliminating crimes against women requires not only the effective implementation of laws but also the collective efforts of family members, educational institutions, workplaces, public representatives, and society as a whole. She stated that promoting respect, equality, safety, and legal awareness would help reduce violence, harassment, and discrimination against women, thereby contributing to the creation of a safe, equitable, and progressive society.

She encouraged students to be aware of their legal rights and to develop the confidence to face future challenges. She also urged them to raise their voices courageously whenever their rights or the rights of others are violated and to respond appropriately through legal and institutional mechanisms.

The guest speaker interacted with the students by answering their questions and clarifying their doubts.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. V. Ravinder Naik, Associate Dean, Agricultural College, Warangal, advised students to make effective use of the college’s Advisory System. He encouraged them to discuss any academic, personal, or other issues they encounter on campus with their assigned faculty advisors and seek appropriate guidance. On the occasion, he also informed that PJTAU has zero tolerance towards sexual harassment of women at work place. Dr. S. Malathi, Professor introduced the guest to the house and informed the house that this lecture is arranged to bring awareness about women rights and how to safeguard them on every occasion and every circumstance including work place.

The programme was graced by Dr. V. Ravinder Naik, Associate Dean; Dr. S. Malathi, Professor and Chairperson, Women Protection Cell, Agricultural College, Warangal, faculty and a large number of students, making the event a grand success.
