The Common Incubation Centre for Millets (CIC-Millets), established under the PMFME Scheme, successfully conducted a series of training programs in August, with the participation of 41 trainees from Narayankhed, Vikarabad, Kolakacherla, and Hyderabad.
Program Highlights
- Primary Processing Training focused on both major and minor millets, covering techniques to convert grains into rawa and flour forms.
- Secondary Processing (Cold & Hot Extrusion) Participants gained hands-on experience in vermicelli and noodle production under cold extrusion, along with exposure to ready-to-eat extruded snack technologies, which are marketable and high-demand millet products.
- Bakery Products (Biscuits & Cakes) The program equipped participants with biscuit-making skills using both manual methods and advanced machinery. Cake processing sessions highlighted variations in process technologies for biscuits and cakes.
- Millet Recipe Demonstrations Designed for start-ups aiming to establish millet-based eateries, this segment showcased diverse recipes with millets:
- Breakfast: dosa, idli, ponganalu, poha
- Lunch: khichdi, pongal, sambar rice
- Snacks: muruku, chekkalu
- Desserts: kheer, payasam, kesari
- Fast Foods & Beverages: millet milkshakes, jowar pasta

- Enhanced technical skills of State FPCs and NGO-supported units in Telangana.
- Empowered participants with practical exposure to millet processing and product development.
- Demonstrated that millets can be cooked easily with the right techniques, inspiring confidence in millet-based entrepreneurship.
