Telangana Rythu Vigyan Kendras (Siddipet, Medak, Sangareddy & Yadadri Bhuvanagiri), PJTAU conducted a workshop on “Sensitisation of PACS on Seed Production as a Business Activity” at the SSR Banquet Hall (5th Floor), Siddipet on 08th September 2026.

The programme was attended and addressed by Dr. M. V. Nagesh, Principal Investigator and Director of Seeds, PJTAU, explained the objectives of the project and the importance of producing quality seed through PACS. He stressed the need for proper seed selection, scientific production practices, quality control, processing, storage and timely distribution of quality seed. Dr. Vidhyadhar, Project Manager, explained the project implementation activities and the roles and responsibilities of PACS. He emphasised effective coordination among PJTAU, NABARD, Cooperative Department, PACS and farmers for successful implementation of the project.

Sri Suresh, CEO, DCCB, Medak; Sri Nikhil Reddy, NABARD DDM, Siddipet; Sri Shivaprasad, DAO, Sangareddy, Smt. Swarupa Rani, DAO, Siddipet, Sri. Vincent Vinay, DAO i/c, Medak, Sri Prudvi, SCO (Hyderabad zone), Sri Nageshwara Rao, District Cooperative Officer, Siddipet and Smt. Padma, DCO, Medak district, Smt. K. Narmada, GM, Dr. G. Santhosh Kumar, Scientist & Head, ARS, Tornala, Smt. Nirmala, ADA, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri were participated in the programme. 

TRVK Coordinators and Scientists from Siddipet (Dr. Pallavi), Sangareddy (Dr. Aruna), Medak (Dr. Sathish), Yadadri Bhuvanagiri (Dr. Sreelatha) districts participated in the workshop. They mobilised PACS Chairmans, CEOs, representatives and farmers from their respective districts and facilitated interaction with NABARD officials, Cooperative Department officials, PACS representatives and farmers.

Chairmans and CEOs and representatives from 12 PACS covering Siddipet, Sangareddy, Medak, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri districts, along with around 64 farmers, participated in the workshop. The experts sensitised the PACS representatives and farmers on the scope of seed production as a viable business activity, quality seed production, project implementation procedures, institutional coordination and the role of PACS in strengthening the local seed production and supply system.

The speakers encouraged PACS representatives and farmers to actively participate in the project and utilise the opportunity to develop seed production as an income-generating and sustainable business activity. The workshop provided a platform for interaction among PJTAU scientists, NABARD, Cooperative Department, TRVK Coordinators, PACS representatives and farmers, with an emphasis on promoting sustainable and economically viable seed production activities through PACS.
