TRVK, Siddipet conducted Training cum awareness programme on Seed Production to Farmers under NABARD Project at LSCS, Husnabad (V&M) on 30.09.2026. As part of this programme, three cooperative societies in Siddipet district Husnabad, Jagadevpur, and Gangapur have been selected. In this connection, an awareness programme was organized for the seed production farmers under the aegis of Telangana Rythu Vignana Kendram (TRVK), Siddipet. NABARD DDM Dr. G. Nikhil Reedy stated that the programme was initiated with the objective of making quality paddy seed available to farmers. He explained that the programme would not only ensure the availability of quality seed to farmers but also contribute to the financial strengthening of cooperative societies. Later, Dr. Ch. Pallavi, Coordinator & Scientist (CP) explained about the use of quality foundation seed can enhance paddy yields by 10–15 percent. She observed that nearly 90–95 percent of the paddy seed market in Telangana is dominated by private companies, resulting in higher seed costs for farmers. To reduce farmers’ dependence on private seed suppliers and make quality seed available at affordable prices, she encouraged farmers to actively participate in seed production. she also explained that under this project, Breeder Seed of the fine-grain paddy variety KNM-1638 will be supplied to five farmers covering five acres under each selected cooperative society. The variety has a duration of 120–125 days and is tolerant to leaf folder and blast disease. She further explained that the cooperative societies will process the procured produce into Foundation Seed, certify it with the Foundation Seed tag, and supply quality seed to farmers across the district. She also stated that farmers are showing interest in the production of sunhemp (green manure) seed. TRVK, Siddipet is ready to provide seed sufficient for cultivation over 30–40 acres to interested farmers. Later, Smt. A. Saritha, Scientist (Breeder), ARS Tornala, precautions to be followed at different stages of seed production, including selection of suitable seed, maintenance of crop purity, proper field management, and adherence to seed certification standards. LSCS Chairman B. Shivaiah interacted with the farmers and clarified their doubts regarding the procurement of harvested produce by the LSCS. In this programme LSCS CEO Praveen, Directors & 60 farmers were participated.
