Sensitization workshop on Drug Abuse and Offences was organized on 20.8.2026 by the Antidrug Committee & NSS team, CAR’ Nagar in collaboration with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Hyderabad at Seminar Hall, New Academic Block, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar. 

At the outset, Dr. K Bhanu Rekha, member Antidrug Committee welcomed the Associate Dean, Dr.C.Narendra Reddy, Sri T. Anil Kumar, Sri. Pawan B. Kolhe, Inspectors, NCB, Hyderabad, Antidrug committee Convenor Dr.B.Savitha, NSS team, College faculty and students. It was followed by a brief welcome address of the Associate Dean. 

The first session started with the presentation of Sri T. Anil Kumar that emphasized the functions of NCB and governing laws. The details on raw materials for drugs, types of drugs (natural, semi-synthetic and synthetic), drug trafficking and illegal substance abuse, stages of drug use, apart from the situations demanding the drug use, addiction and warning signs formed core of the topic. Other aspects comprised of ill effects of drugs on social life, health, psychological, economic level and legal consequences of drug abuse. 

The next session by Sri Pawan B. Kolhe covered drug-related offences and punishments under the NDPS Act, along with real-life examples of drug users. The role of teachers, parents, counsellors, psychiatrists and rehabilitation support in prevention of drugs and recovery formed the crux of the presentation. 

The session ended with the details on MANAS National Narcotics Helpline – 1933 (available 24×7) for assistance related to drug abuse and de-addiction. All the participants took anti-drug pledge towards a Nasha Mukt Bharat (Drug-Free India) to commit to a healthy, substance-free lifestyle followed by felicitation to the guest speakers. The workshop ended with vote of thanks. Around 250 students and 12 faculty attended the workshop.
