Organized Training cum Inputs Distribution Programme under FLD-Pigeonpea at RARS
AICRP on Kharif Pulses, RARS, Warangal, PJTAU has organized Training programme cum inputs distribution as a part of Front Line Demonstrations (FLD’s) -Pigeonpea at RARS, Warangal on 18.06.2026 under the chairmanship of Dr.M.Sreedhar, Associate Director of Research, RARS, Warangal. He apprised the pulses farmers and explained about pigeon pea is an ideal crop to cultivate with low investment and getting high returns. Further, advised the farmers to implement the front line demonstration with a competitive spirit for getting higher yields and to popularize the technology demonstrated. Dr.K.Rukhmini Devi, Principal Scientist (Pulses) briefed about importance of cultivation of pulses in Telangana. Dr.G.Seshu, Scientist (Pl. Breeding) has explained about newly released high yielding, wilt resistant red gram varieties of University and characteristics of that varieties of pigeonpea. Dr. M. Madhu, Scientist (Agronomy), FLD-incharge, has briefed about importance of front line demonstrations in pigeonpea and also explained about El nino situations and necessary precautions to be taken, Ridge & Furrow method of sowing methods, integrated weed, fertilizer management, importance of nipping practice, inter-cultivation and harvest of the crop. Dr. D. Veeranna, Scientist (Entomology) explained about integrated pest management in Pigeonpea. Dr. G. Padmaja, Scientist (Plant Pathology) explained about disease management in pigeonpea. Later, FLD farmers of last year shared their experience. At the end, distributed inputs viz., Red gram seeds, Bio-fertlizers (Tricoderma viridae & Rhizobium culture) to the beneficiary famers. In this programme, about 60 farmers from different mandals of Darmaram. Zaffergadh, Sangem, Inavolu, Geesukonda, Damera, Hasanparthy, Chityala and Tekumatla mandals of Jayashanker Bhupalpalle, Warangal, Hanamkonda and Jangoan districts were participated.
