TRVK, Mahabubnagar scientists was conducted Rythu Mungitlo Shastravethalu programme titled “Scientists at Farmers’ Doorstep” in Vaddeman village of Chinna Chintakunta mandal on 04-05-2026. The Honorable MLA of Devarakadra Assembly Constituency, Sri G. Madhusudan Reddy, attended the program as the chief guest and inaugurated it by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Addressing the villagers, the MLA spoke about the Telangana Government’s schemes, subsidies, and the Rythu Bharosa initiative. He explained the innovative programs being undertaken by the government. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining soil health and practicing crop rotation. Farmers were advised to follow the crop patterns suggested by officials and to adopt modern agricultural practices, including the use of improved seed varieties recommended by scientists. He further assured that procurement centers would be set up in advance in the Devarakadra constituency to ensure that farmers do not face any difficulties. He stated that the government would purchase every grain produced by the farmers.
Dr. P. Archana, Coordinator of the Telangana Farmers’ Knowledge Centre, explained the key aspects of the “Scientists at Farmers’ Doorstep” program. She emphasized reducing cultivation costs by minimizing the use of urea and protecting soil health. She advised using chemicals only as needed to safeguard nature, practicing crop rotation for sustainable income, and cultivating paddy varieties that have high market demand to earn better returns. She also highlighted the importance of saving irrigation water for future generations and adopting organic farming practices to enjoy healthy food.
Sri Venkatesh, District Agriculture Officer, explained the Farmers’ Festival programs. He advised farmers not to use HT Bt cotton seeds, to reduce the usage of urea, and to take receipts when purchasing seeds. He stressed the importance of crop rotation, using bio-fertilizers, and conducting soil testing for every farm. Based on soil test results, fertilizers should be applied appropriately. He also recommended using only the prescribed chemical pesticides as needed. He suggested cultivating fine-grain paddy varieties that have good market demand such as RNR 15048, BPT 5204, KNM 1638, Jai Sriram, HMT, WGL 44, WGL 962, and JGL 1798, as well as coarse-grain varieties like IR 64, MTU 1010, and KNM 118 during the rainy season. For the rabi (Yasangi) season, he recommended growing Telangana Sona (fine variety) and coarse varieties like IR 64, MTU 1010, and KNM 118, ensuring farming practices that improve soil fertility.
Dr. K. Kalyani, Scientist explained how farmers should collect soil samples from their fields and how to interpret soil test reports. She advised applying fertilizers based on the recommendations in the soil health card and also elaborated on organic farming practices and the management of problematic (saline/alkaline) soils.
The program was attended by Mandal Agriculture Officer Rajesh Khanna, Mandal Parishad Development Officer Lakshminarasimhulu, Agricultural Extension Officers, village Sarpanch Ishwar Singh, DT Enforcement Officer MD Aameer, and around 100 farmers.
