Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bhadradri Kothagudem, in collaboration with ICAR–Indian Institute of Rice Research (IIRR), Hyderabad organized an awareness programme on the “Khet Bachao Abhiyan” campaign and Dry Direct Seeding (DDS) technology in rice under the ICAR-IIRR-CSR-SBI Project

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bhadradri Kothagudem, in collaboration with ICAR–Indian Institute of Rice Research (IIRR), Hyderabad organized an awareness programme on the “Khet Bachao Abhiyan” campaign and Dry Direct Seeding (DDS) technology in rice under the ICAR-IIRR-CSR-SBI Project at KVK on 18.06.2026. During the programme, Dr. T. Bharath, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Bhadradri Kothagudem highlighted the importance of soil health management through natural farming practices, soil testing, crop diversification and crop residue management. He also emphasized the significance of Dry Direct Seeding technology in rice as an effective solution to address labour shortages and reduce cultivation costs.

Dr. Kaviraj, Research Associate, ICAR-IIRR, Hyderabad, explained the activities being implemented under the ICAR-IIRR-CSR-SBI Project in Bhadradri Kothagudem district and their benefits to farming communities. Sri Shiva, Scientist (Horticulture), KVK Bhadradri Kothagudem, delivered a lecture on balanced fertilizer application in vegetable and orchard crops and discussed integrated crop management practices in oil palm cultivation. Later, 50 battery-operated sprayers and 50 tarpaulins were distributed free of cost to farmers under the ICAR-IIRR-CSR-SBI Project. A total of 50 farmers from different villages of Aspirational Allapally Mandal, Bhadradri Kothagudem district, participated in the programme.
