Jogulamba Gadwal Field Visit visit to Thimmapur, Beechpalli and Yerravalli villages
Dr. P. Archana, Coordinator, TRVK, Jogulamba Gadwal, visited Thimmapur, Beechpalli and Yerravalli villages of Yerravalli mandal on 05-11-2026, along with MAO Sri Suresh, Yerravalli mandal, and AEO Sri Naresh. Around 60 farmers participated in the interactions. During the visit, interactions were held with farmers regarding estimated crop losses and drying of crops due to inadequate soil moisture availability at critical crop growth stages. Farmers shared their field-level problems and explained the prevailing agricultural situation in their respective villages. The team also interacted with farmers and women members of Itikyala FPO and explained the importance and benefits of becoming FPO members, including collective marketing, access to quality agricultural inputs, technical guidance and improved market linkages. Dr. P. Archana also participated in the Groundnut Farmer Field School (FFS) programme organized by the Department of Agriculture in a groundnut field. She interacted with farmers and discussed crop management practices and suitable agronomic recommendations for improving groundnut productivity.
Field Observations and Recommendations
- Groundnut
Visited groundnut fields of FPO farmers and advised the application of gypsum @ 200 kg per acre during the flowering stage, along with 10 kg of urea per acre, to improve peg development and crop productivity.
- Paddy
Observed that paddy crops had completely dried up due to severe moisture stress. Approximately 635 acres of paddy area in the visited villages were reported to have been completely dried up. Considering the prevailing weather conditions and inadequate soil moisture availability, farmers were advised to avoid paddy cultivation and opt for less water-intensive crops during the coming season.
- NABARD Paddy Seed Production Field
Later, visited the NABARD-supported paddy seed production field of Sri S. Ram Reddy at Yerravalli village, under Putandoddi PACS, and inspected the crop condition and seed production activities.
