Hon’ble District Collector, Nagarkurnool District, Shri. Hemant Keshav Patil, visited the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Palem, on 29 August 2026.
During the visit, the Hon’ble District Collector enquired in detail about the mandate, functions and major activities of KVK, Palem and interacted with Dr. O. Shaila, SMS (Plant Protection) and Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, Palem, regarding the various extension, training, demonstration and technology dissemination activities being undertaken by the KVK for the benefit of the farming community in Nagarkurnool District.
Dr. O. Shaila explained the major activities and highlighted their impact on farmers and the agricultural development of the district. The discussions focused on how KVK interventions, including frontline demonstrations, on-farm testing, capacity-building programmes, advisory services and the dissemination of improved agricultural technologies, are contributing to increased awareness, adoption of scientific practices and improved farm productivity.
The Hon’ble District Collector also visited the KVK Instructional Farm, where he inspected various demonstration and technology units, including the seed processing unit, shade-net nursery production unit, vermicompost unit, vegetable production under pandals, dragon fruit demonstration unit and other seed production plots. He enquired about the benefits of these technologies, their economic viability and their potential for adoption by farmers. The usefulness and impact of the demonstrated technologies in improving farmers’ income and promoting diversified and sustainable agriculture were also discussed.
The Hon’ble District Collector appreciated the efforts and activities of KVK, Palem, and encouraged the KVK to take up more activities related to quality seed production and seed entrepreneurship. He also emphasised the need to promote the use of drone technology in agriculture and encouraged KVK, Palem, to organise training programmes to create awareness and build the capacity of farmers in the effective and safe use of drones for agricultural operations. Further, encouraged KVK, Palem, to come forward with innovative activities and project proposals in the future and assured his support for the implementation of various farmer-oriented programmes and developmental initiatives. The visit was highly encouraging and provided valuable support and direction for strengthening the future activities of KVK, Palem, for the benefit of the farming community of Nagarkurnool District.
