TRVK- Gadwal conducted Workshop on Sensitisation of PACS on seed production as business activity and project
Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University (PJTAU) conducted a workshop on “Sensitisation of PACS on Seed Production as a Business Activity and Project Implementation Activities” at the DCCB, Mahabubnagar, on 27 August 2026 at 1:30 PM.
Sri S. K. Rao (Former Vice-Chancellor, Gwalior University & Professor of Practice – Chief Guest): In his address, he emphasised the importance of quality seed in enhancing crop productivity and farmers’ income. He highlighted the potential of PACS to take up seed production as a sustainable and profitable business activity and encouraged PACS to work closely with agricultural institutions and farmers.
Dr. M. V. Nagesh (Principal Investigator & Director of Seeds, PJTSAU): Explained the objectives of the project and the importance of producing quality seed through PACS. He stressed the need for proper seed selection, scientific production practices, quality control, processing, storage and timely distribution of quality seed.
Dr. Vidhyadher (Project Manager): Explained the project implementation activities and the roles and responsibilities of PACS. He emphasised effective coordination among PJTSAU, NABARD, Cooperative Department, PACS and farmers for successful implementation of the project.
Dr. L. Krishna (Associate Director of Research – ADR, RARS, Palem): Highlighted the importance of scientific technologies and technical guidance in seed production. He assured that RARS and PJTSAU scientists would provide necessary technical support to PACS and farmers at different stages of seed production.
Sri Mohammad Shafi Ullah Khan, CEO, DCCB, Mahabubnagar; Sri Shanmuka Chari, NABARD DDM, Mahabubnagar; Sri Mahender, NABARD DDM, Narayanpet; Sri Krishna, District Cooperative Officer, Mahabubnagar; and Sri Tyson Paul, DCO, Jogulamba Gadwal and Wanaparthy districts participated in the programme. Sri Raghunath Rao, representing Nagarkurnool and Wanaparthy districts, also participated.

TRVK/KVK Coordinators and scientists from Mahabubnagar, Jogulamba Gadwal, Narayanpet, Wanaparthy and Nagarkurnool districts participated in the workshop. They mobilised PACS CEOs, representatives and farmers from their respective districts and facilitated interaction with NABARD officials, Cooperative Department officials, PACS representatives and farmers. CEOs and representatives from nine PACS covering Mahabubnagar, Jogulamba Gadwal, Narayanpet, Wanaparthy and Nagarkurnool districts, along with around 50 farmers, participated in the workshop.
The experts sensitised the PACS representatives and farmers on the scope of seed production as a viable business activity, quality seed production, project implementation procedures, institutional coordination and the role of PACS in strengthening the local seed production and supply system.
The speakers encouraged PACS representatives and farmers to actively participate in the project and utilise the opportunity to develop seed production as an income-generating and sustainable business activity.
The workshop provided a platform for interaction among PJTSAU scientists, NABARD, Cooperative Department, TRVK/KVK Coordinators, PACS representatives and farmers, with an emphasis on promoting sustainable and economically viable seed production activities through PACS.
