Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Bhadradri Kothagudem, conducted an awareness programme on “El Niño Effects and Contingency Crop Planning-cum-Demonstration of Green Manuring (Daincha Incorporation)” at Sompalli Village, Burgamphad Mandal, Bhadradri Kothagudem District on 18.07.2026. During the programme, Dr. T. Bharath, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Bhadradri Kothagudem, addressed the gathering and explained the adverse effects of El Niño on agriculture. He highlighted the importance of contingency crop planning and recommended suitable crop and farm management practices to minimize climate-related risks and sustain agricultural productivity under changing weather conditions. Sri Tatarao, Assistant Director of Agriculture, delivered a session on soil health management through the incorporation of green manure crops, emphasizing the benefits of Daincha incorporation in improving soil fertility, enhancing organic matter, and promoting sustainable agriculture.

A field demonstration on the incorporation of Daincha as a green manure was conducted, in which the resource persons and farmers actively participated. The programme was attended by Sri Manishankar, Agricultural Officer; Dr. Kaviraju, Research Associate, ICAR-IIRR, Hyderabad; Sri Pavan and Smt. Nagavyshanavi, Agricultural Extension Officers (AEOs), and 35 farmers from the village. The participants appreciated the practical demonstrations and the guidance provided on climate-resilient agricultural practices.
