Celebration of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar 135th birth anniversary
135th birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was celebrated by offering floral tribute at ARS, Adilabad on 14.04.2026. Teaching and Non Teaching Staff members, Outsourcing staff, Casual labors (MTS) and Contract labours were participated in the programme.
In this meeting, Dr. K. Rajashekar, Sr. Scientist, ARS, Adilabad briefed about the life history and service to the nation of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar (14 April 1891 – 6 December 1956) was an Indian jurist, economist, social reformer and politician who chaired the committee that drafted the Constitution of India based on the debates of the Constituent Assembly of India. Ambedkar served as Law and Justice minister in the first cabinet of Jawaharlal Nehru.
After graduating from Elphinstone College, University of Bombay, Ambedkar studied economics at Columbia University and the London School of Economics, receiving doctorates in 1927 and 1923, respectively. During his time at the Columbia University, Ambedkar came under the influence of John Dewey and his philosophy of pragmatism. He also trained in the law at Gray’s Inn, London. In his early career, he was an economist, professor, and lawyer. His later life was marked by his political activities; he became involved in campaigning and negotiations for partition, publishing journals, advocating political rights and social freedom for Dalits and contributing to the establishment of the state of India. In 1956, he converted to Buddhism, initiating mass conversions of Dalits. People from all religions and castes could become a part of this association which worked for the upliftment of the oppressed classes.
Finally, Dr. D. Mohan Das, Scientist (Agro.), ARS, Adilabad spoken about Dr. B.R Ambedkar was appointed Chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Constitution for the future Republic of India. up-liftment of backward classes. In the Constituent Assembly he advocated for the rights of Dalits and argued for affirmative action based on caste in elected bodies and government services. ’The problem of Rupee’ written by Dr. B. R Ambedkar addresses the economic challenges that, India faced under British colonial rule, which forced the establishment of Reserve Bank of India.
