Celebration of 92nd Birth anniversary of Prof. Kothapalli Jayashankar (the Architect of Telangana State)
92nd Birth anniversary of Prof. Kothapalli Jayashankar (the Architect of Telangana State) was celebrated at office premises and offering floral tribute at ARS, Adilabad on 06.08.2026. Teaching and Non Teaching Staff members, Outsourcing staff, Casual labors (MTS) and Contract labours were participated in the programme.
On this occasion, Dr. Sreedhar Chauhan, Principal Scientist (Agro.) & Head; Dr. K. Rajashekar, Sr. Scientist (Ento.); Dr. D. Mohan Das, Scientist (Agro.); Dr. M. Rajendar Reddy, Scientist (Pl. Br.) and Dr. G. Praveen Kumar, Scientist (Pl. Br.) addressed the gathering & the life, vision and contributions of Prof. Kothapalli Jayashankar (the Architect of Telangana State).
The speakers explained that Prof. Kothapalli Jayashankar (6 August 1934 – 21 June 2011) was a distinguished academician, economist, and social activist who is widely regarded as the chief ideologue of the Telangana Movement. He dedicated his life to the cause of a separate Telangana State, beginning his efforts in 1952. He consistently emphasized that the unequal distribution of river waters and regional disparities were among the primary reasons for the demand for a separate Telangana. Prof. Jayashankar also served as the Vice-Chancellor of Kakatiya University and played a pivotal role in creating awareness about the aspirations of the people of Telangana.
The speakers further noted that Prof. Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University (PJTAU) was named in his honour and memory. Established following the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, PJTAU became the only agricultural university dedicated to the state of Telangana after its separation from Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University. His enduring vision, commitment, and selfless service continue to inspire generations and remain a guiding force in the development of Telangana.
