A diagnostic field visit was also conducted in maize and cotton fields. In maize, fall armyworm infestation and severe weed problems were observed, while in cotton, sucking pest infestation was noticed. Based on the field observations, appropriate plant protection measures were suggested, and suitable pesticides/herbicides were recommended to the farmers for effective management of the identified problems.
As part of the extension programme, maize herbicides and blue and yellow sticky traps were distributed to the participating farmers to promote timely weed and insect pest management and encourage the adoption of integrated pest management (IPM) practices.
