Awareness Training Programme and Input Distribution to Scheduled Caste Farmers Held at RAR

An “Awareness Training Programme on Best Management Practices in Cotton Cultivation and Input Distribution to the Scheduled Caste Farmers under SC-SP 2025-26” was organized by the AICRP on Cotton, Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS), Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University (PJTAU), Warangal on 08 September 2026 at Seminar hall, RARS, Warangal.
About 70 Scheduled Caste farmers participated in the programme. The programme aimed to create awareness among farmers on improved crop production technologies, integrated pest and disease management and other best management practices for cotton and major agricultural crops. The programme was inaugurated with the welcome address and interaction with the participating farmers. Dr. M. Sreedhar, Associate Director of Research, RARS, Warangal, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of adopting recommended scientific technologies for improving crop productivity and farm income.
Technical sessions were conducted by scientists of RARS, Warangal. Dr. V. Venkanna, Principal Scientist (Cotton) and Head, Cotton Research Scheme, delivered a lecture on Best Management Practices in Cotton Cultivation. Dr. S. Omprakash, Scientist (Entomology) explained Pest and Disease Management in Cotton, with emphasis on effective and timely management of major insect pests and diseases. Dr. Y. Prashanth, Scientist (Plant Breeding) elaborated on the High Density Planting System (HDPS) in Cotton and its importance in improving cotton productivity. Dr. P. Gonya Nayak, Scientist (Plant Breeding) explained on Best Management Practices in Paddy Cultivation, while Dr. G. Seshu, Scientist (Plant Breeding) explained the Production Technologies in Pulses.
An interactive session was also conducted, during which farmers discussed their field- level problems and sought technical guidance from the scientists. The scientists provided suitable recommendations on crop management and pest and disease control. As part of the SCSP 2025- 26, essential agricultural inputs were distributed to the participating farmers to support the adoption of improved crop management practices. The inputs included tarpaulins, battery- operated sprayers, micronutrients, pheromone traps for pink bollworm (PBW) control, insecticides, neem oil and other agricultural inputs. The initiative provided an opportunity for direct interaction between scientists and farmers and is expected to facilitate the adoption of scientific crop production practices among the beneficiary farmers.
