Awareness Programme on “Understanding Digital Learning Platforms: Exploring MOOCs” on 30 May 2026 at (EEI)
The Centre for Human Resource Development (CHRD), Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University (PJTAU), in collaboration with the Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMRC), Osmania University, Hyderabad, jointly organized a One-Day Awareness Programme on “Understanding Digital Learning Platforms: Exploring MOOCs” on 30 May 2026 at the Seminar Hall, Extension Education Institute (EEI), Hyderabad. The programme was conducted for the faculty members of PJTAU to enhance their understanding of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and digital learning platforms.
The programme commenced with a welcome and briefing by Dr. J. S. Sudha Rani, Senior Scientist, Electronic Wing. Dr. M. Srinivasulu, Professor and Coordinator, Electronic Wing, PJTAU, provided an overview of the programme objectives and highlighted the growing significance of digital learning in higher education. Dr. M. Yakadri, Director of Extension, attended the programme as the Guest of Honour. In his introductory remarks, he encouraged the participants to develop quality concept notes in their respective areas of expertise in Agricultural Sciences and explore opportunities for creating digital learning content. Dr. K. Jhansi Rani, Dean of Agriculture, emphasized the importance of blended teaching methods and highlighted the growing relevance of MOOCs in contemporary academic environments. She stressed the need for faculty members to effectively utilize digital learning platforms to educate Agricultural Graduates.
The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Dr. K. V. Ramana Rao, Dean, Agricultural Engineering and Technology, PJTAU, and Nodel Officer Skill Development Programmes, who enlightened the gathering on new education policy of Govt. and Importance of MOOCs he also stressed on the role of technology-enabled learning in strengthening agricultural education and capacity building. Technical sessions were led by experts from EMRC, Osmania University. Mr. P. Raghupathi, Director, EMRC, delivered a lecture on “MOOCs: Design, Development and Funding”, explaining the process of developing quality online courses and the funding opportunities available for MOOC creation. A hands-on training session on “Submitting and Uploading MOOCs on the SWAYAM Portal” was presented by Mrs. P. Kavitha, Producer, EMRC, where participants gained practical experience in course submission and content management on the SWAYAM platform. An orientation session on SWAYAM Prabha was delivered by Mr. BSD Raja, Producer, EMRC, Osmania University, who explained the features, benefits, and educational opportunities available through the SWAYAM Prabha DTH channels.
The programme concluded with an interactive discussion session, during which participants clarified their queries regarding MOOC development and implementation. The formal vote of thanks was proposed by Sri K. Koteshwar, Assistant Professor, EEI, who expressed gratitude to the resource persons, organizers, and participants for making the programme a success. The programme was attended by 100 faculty members from research, teaching and extension of PJTAU.
