ARS Kampasagar and TRVK Huzurnagar Field Diagnostic Visit at Suryapet District

On 21st August 2026, Dr. K. Parimala, Principal Scientist (Plant Breeding), ARS Kampasagar, and Dr. K. Chandrasekhar, Coordinator, TRVK Huzurnagar, along with the Department of Agriculture, conducted a Field Diagnostic Visit in Melacheruvu and Chintalapalem mandals of Suryapet district.

In Melacheruvu mandal, paddy and cotton fields were visited. During the paddy field visit, farmers were advised to make alleys while growing fine varieties, as this helps in controlling brown planthopper (BPH) and facilitates the application of fertilizers, pesticides, and other inputs. Farmers were advised not to apply more than two bags of urea and one bag of DAP. In cotton fields, farmers were suggested to apply muriate of potash and to use appropriate chemicals for the effective control of sucking pests.

In Chintalapalem mandal, chilli and cotton fields were visited. In chilli fields, stem rot was observed, and farmers were advised to use appropriate chemicals for its management. Application of Trichoderma was suggested for controlling soil-borne diseases such as root rot. In cotton, farmers were advised not to apply complex fertilizers as split doses.

Sri T. Satish Kumar, Agriculture Extension Officer, Melacheruvu, and Sri Bhavan and Sri Bhavani, Agriculture Extension Officers of Chintalapalem mandal, also attended the field diagnostic visit.
