Siddipet-Conducted Seed Distribution Programme on TDRG-59 Redgram under Crop Diversification

TRVK, Siddipet Conducted Seed Distribution Programme on TDRG-59 Redgram under Crop Diversification in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture & Telangana state seeds development corporation limited at Pedda Masanpally Rythu vedika, Thoguta (M) on 29.09.2026. As part of the programme, TDRG-59 redgram seed was distributed to farmers of Yellareddypet village sufficient for cultivation in 25 acres, with the objective of promoting quality seed production. Dr. Ch. Pallavi, Scientist, TRVK, Siddipet, stated that the programme was initiated to facilitate the availability of quality redgram seed to farmers through local seed production. She explained that TDRG-59 is a medium-duration redgram variety. When sown during the first week of October, the crop is expected to reach harvest by the last week of February, with a potential yield of up to 7-8 quintals per acre under suitable crop management conditions. She further informed the farmers that the variety has resistance to wilt and sterility mosaic disease and is suitable for seed production. Later, Smt. Sandhya and Sri. Atul Jain from TSSDC Ltd. addressed the farmers and encouraged them to make effective use of the opportunity. They explained the precautions and recommended practices to be followed at different stages of redgram seed production, including maintaining varietal purity and proper crop management. In this programme MAO-Sri. Mohan, Sri. Nagarjuna, AEO and 30 farmers were participated.
