On 28.09.2026, Dr. K. Kalyani, Coordinator & Scientist, TRVK, Mahabubnagar, and Smt. B. Prasanna, Seed Certification Officer, Gadwal, conducted a training programme on seed production of paddy and other crops for PACS members and farmers at Polkampally PACS, Musapet Mandal.

Dr. K. Kalyani explained the NABARD-supported paddy seed production programme being implemented through Polkampally PACS in 5 acres, with technical guidance and regular field monitoring by TRVK. She highlighted the importance of farmers producing quality seed themselves to reduce dependence on external sources and obtain quality seed at a lower cost. PACS can facilitate seed processing, storage and marketing of the produced seed to other farmers.

Smt. B. Prasanna explained the seed certification procedure, online registration, precautions to be taken at different stages from sowing to processing and bagging, and the identification and use of breeder, foundation and certified seed tags.

PACS CEO Sri Bhaskar appreciated the initiative and emphasized the benefits of farmer-based seed production through PACS.

Farmers Sri Shaliuddin and Sri Balakrishnaiah, who are undertaking breeder seed-based paddy seed production at Polkampally, expressed satisfaction with the regular field visits and technical guidance.

A total of 35 farmers participated in the programme.
