Mental Health Awareness Programme” conducted by Counseling Centre at Agricultural College

Under the guidance of the Counseling Center at the Agricultural College, Adilabad, which is part of PJTAU, a ‘Mental Health Awareness & Stress and Anxiety Management Programme’ was conducted on 11.09.2026. The program was mainly aimed at creating awareness among students about mental health, emotional well-being, and effective ways to cope with stress and anxiety. Dr. Y. Praveen Kumar, Associate Dean, Agricultural College, Adilabad said that alongside students’ academic growth, their mental health and emotional well-being are also very important. He suggested that students should overcome academic stress with a positive mindset and seek help from teachers, parents, and the Counseling Center whenever needed without keeping problems to themselves. He mentioned that with a healthy mind, students can effectively achieve their goals.

Dr. Om Prakash, RIMS College Mental Health Specialist and faculty, attended as the chief guest and spoke about how important it is to identify stress, anxiety, exam fear, sleep problems, and other mental issues among students at an early stage. He suggested staying away from negative thoughts and following healthy habits like positive thinking, proper sleep, exercise, balanced diet, meditation, and time management. He explained that mental problems shouldn’t be considered a weakness and that consulting mental health specialists or counselors when needed is the right decision. He mentioned that students can reduce stress by freely sharing their problems.

Students were made aware of topics like managing stress, balancing emotions, and developing a positive outlook. It was mentioned that “Only mentally healthy students are the strong foundation of a healthy society.”

Students actively participated in the program and gained awareness about various aspects of mental health, stress, and anxiety management.  Members of the College Counseling Centre Dr. G. Manjulatha, Professor & Head, Dr. D. Kumara Swamy, Asst. Prof. & OISA, Dr. Sudhanshu Kasbe, Asst. Prof., Student Member R. Chander, III year B.Sc (Hons) Ag. and other faculty members Dr. M. Sunil Kumar, Dr. Anil Kumar, along with non-teaching staff took part in this program and made it grad success.
