BJR Agricultural College, Sircilla observed the Birth Anniversary (Jayanthi) of Sri Kaloji Narayana Rao, the renowned poet, writer and cultural icon of Telangana, on 09.09.2026. The programme was organized to commemorate the life, literary contributions and social commitment of Sri Kaloji Narayana Rao. The programme commenced with floral tributes to the portrait of Sri Kaloji Narayana Rao offered by Dr. S. Upendhar, Associate Dean, followed by Dr. T. Arunbabu, Officer-in-Charge of Student Activities (OISA), faculty members, non-teaching staff and students.
On the occasion, the faculty members, non-teaching staff and students shared their views on the life of Sri Kaloji Narayana Rao. highlighting the significant contributions of Kaloji Narayana Rao to society and emphasized his commitment to social causes, public welfare and the upliftment of common people through his writings.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. S. Upendhar, Associate Dean, stated that Sri Kaloji Narayana Rao actively participated in various social issues, public movements and struggles and dedicated his life to the cause of society. He highlighted that Kaloji’s writings reflected the aspirations, struggles and emotions of ordinary people and served as a powerful means of creating social awareness. He further stated that Sri Kaloji Narayana Rao’s exceptional services to literature and society were recognized by the Government of India, which honoured him with the Padma Vibhushan. He also recalled that the Government of Telangana named its premier health sciences institution as Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences, in recognition of his outstanding contribution and legacy.
The Associate Dean emphasized that the life and ideals of Sri Kaloji Narayana Rao provide valuable lessons for the younger generation. He encouraged the students to draw inspiration from Kaloji’s simplicity, courage, social consciousness, commitment to justice and dedication to society, and to develop a sense of social responsibility in their personal and professional lives.
