Guest lecture on Integrated Farming system- A pathway to Organic Agriculture was organized by the Department of Agronomy, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar in the Agronomy Seminar Hall as a part of “Knowledge Day Programme” on 28.8.2026 at 11.00 AM. The guest speaker was Dr K.Vaiyapuri, Professor (Agro.) TNAU, Coimbatore. At the outset, Dr.K. Bhanu Rekha, Professor and PG In-charge Department of Agronomy welcomed guest speaker, Associate Dean, Dr.C. Narendra Reddy, Dr.K.B.Suneetha Devi, Professor (AL-15) & Head, Agronomy, teaching faculty and PG, Ph.D students. It was followed by a brief welcome address by Dr.K.B.Suneetha Devi, Professor & Head. The biodata of the speaker was presented by Dr.K. Bhanu Rekha.
The lecture began with an intro of Indian Agriculture since pre-Independence era to present agrarian situations with help of up-to-date statistical data. The speaker emphasized the need of the IFS in the present context of the climate change for sustaining yields, economic returns and soil health. The lecture covered aspects like components of IFS, resource recycling, nutrient addition through animal components apart from the enhanced profitability in IFS over cropping alone. Components of Organic farming and significance also formed a part of the presentation. The lecture continued with a lively interaction between the speaker, students and faculty.
The post graduate students, teaching faculty – Dr.A. MadhaviLata, Professor and Dr.K. Shekar, Assistant Professor from the department of Agronomy attended to the guest lecture. The programme ended with felicitation of the guest speaker and vote of thanks.
