Department of Agronomy & AICRP on Weed Management Unit organized an Awareness programme under Parthenium
Department of Agronomy & AICRP on Weed Management Unit PJTAU observed 21st Parthenium Awareness Week on 19.08.2026. An awareness program in which a special lecture on Parthenium ill effects and its management was arranged. Dr.T.Anjaiah, Principal Scientist (SS& AC), AICRP on Weed Management Unit has welcomed the guest and dignitaries on to the dias by stating the importance of the 21st Parthenium Awareness Week. Dr.C.Naredra Reddy, Associate Dean, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar has graced the session and highlighted the importance of community approach and individual students participation plays key role in eradicating Parthenium weed in hostels, College premises. Dr.K.B.Suneetha Devi, Professor & University Head, Department of Agronomy has highlighted about ill effects of Parthenium by stating her personal experiences in the field. Dr.B.Padmaja, Principal Scientist & Head, AICRP on Weed Management Unit delivered special lecture on Parthenium which has englighed the B. Sc (Ag.) students in taking steps to eradicate the Parthenium weed by following different management practices. After the lecture all the faculty and students went rally to the students farm fields and actively participated in uprooting the Parthenium weed from the field plots and classrooms premises. Department of Agronomy faculty Dr.Madhavi lata, Professor & IFFCO chair, Dr.P.Revathi, Associate Professor, Non teaching staff were participated. Dr.Shekhar, Assistant Professor (Agronomy has coordinated the programme. Teaching Associates, about 92 Students of B. Sc. (Ag.) were attended.
