Guest Lecture on Agroecological Approaches for Climate Resilient and Sustainable transformation of Agri-food Systems
A guest lecture on Agroecological Approaches for Climate Resilient and Sustainable transformation of Agri-food Systems in South Asia was organized by the Department of Agronomy, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar as a part of “Knowledge Day Programme” on 14.8.2026 at 10.30 AM in the Agronomy Seminar Hall. The guest speaker was Dr.P.M. Shanmugam, Chief Agronomist & Professor (Agro.) TNAU, Coimbatore. At the outset, Professor (AL-15) & Head, Agronomy, Dr.K.B.Suneetha Devi delivered a brief welcome address to the staff, students and research Scientists present for the guest lecture. The biodata of the speaker was presented by Dr.K. Bhanu Rekha, Professor and PG In-charge Department of Agronomy.
The lecture highlighted the significance of Climate resilient technologies in Agriculture in the present context of El-Nino. The speaker focused on the need of transformation towards climate smart Agriculture apart from the smart technologies practiced across the globe and South Asia in specific. Other aspects included significance of IFS, natural, organic farming practices and advantages. Bankable projects apart from AI and Mechanization in different IFS models for improving the productivity and profitability were also covered in the presentation. The lecture followed a fruitful interaction between the speaker, students and faculty.
The post graduate students, teaching faculty from the department of Agronomy and Scientists from the AICRP on IFS, Scheme participated in the guest lecture. The programme ended with felicitation of the guest speaker and vote of thanks.
