TRVK, Siddipet conducted Awareness Programme on Biochar preparation and uses in agriculture to encourage Rural Youth and SHGs in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture under RAMP scheme (MSME) at Akkannapet (V&M) on 12.08.2026. As part of the programme, Dr. Ch. Pallavi, Coordinator & Scientist (CP) created awareness among rural youth and SHG members on the importance, production, application and potential benefits of biochar in agriculture, focused on promoting biochar as an eco-friendly soil amendment and encouraging rural youth and SHGs to take up biochar production as an income-generating and entrepreneurship activity. She explained about the role of biochar in improving soil health, water-holding capacity, nutrient-use efficiency and soil organic carbon. She emphasized the scope for value addition of agricultural waste through biochar production, thereby reducing residue burning and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. Rural youth and SHGs were encouraged to explore biochar production as a small-scale enterprise with technical and institutional support available through MSME and the Department of Agriculture. The programme provided an opportunity for rural youth and SHG members to understand the agricultural, environmental and economic benefits of biochar and encouraged them to take up biochar-based enterprises for sustainable livelihoods and improved soil health. In this programme, MAO- Tasleema Sulthana, AEOs- Sabiha, Ishwarya, Mellow Carbon Clim Ag Pvt. Ltd. CEO-M. Bhargavi and 60 Nos Rural youth & SHG members and farmers were participated.
