Organized Parthenium Eradication Program on 18.07.2026 at different research units of ARI
Agricultural Research Institute (ARI), Rajendranagar, under the guidance of the Director, ARI organized Parthenium eradication programme on 18th July, 2026. The programme was jointly conducted by different units of ARI i.e., Maize Research Unit (MRU), Rice Research Unit (RRU), Weed Management Unit (WMU), Farm Development Unit (FDU), Forage Crops Unit (FCU), Pesticide Residue Laboratory (PRL), Vertebrate pest Management (VPM) and Biological Control Unit (BCU).
The Director, ARI, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of creating awareness on the adverse effects of Parthenium hysterophorus. He highlighted the need for collective efforts in its prevention, effective management and eradication to safeguard agricultural productivity, environmental sustainability and public health.
Scientists, technical staff, and farm workers actively participated in the programme, which focused on the identification, harmful effects and integrated management of Parthenium through mechanical, biological and chemical control measures. As part of the campaign, Parthenium weed removal drives were undertaken in and around the research farms and institute premises, followed by a pledge to promote sustained awareness and collective action towards a Parthenium-free environment.
