Training programme on ‘Agroforestry systems’ and ‘Distribution of Inputs” under Tribal Sub Plan

A training programme on ‘Agroforestry systems’ and ‘Distribution of Inputs’ was organized by AICRP on Agroforestry, PJTAU, Hyderabad at Mailram kindi Thanda village, Bommalaramaram mandal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district on 13-07-2026 under Tribal Sub Plan (Agroforestry) funded by ICAR-Central Agroforestry Research Institute (CAFRI), Jhansi, U.P. by Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu, Pr. Scientist (Agro.) & Head and Dr. D. Vijaya Lakshmi, Scientist (SSAC) from AICRP on Agroforestry, Smt. N. Durgeshwari, Agricultural Officer, Mr. Mohd. Adil, AEO, Bommalaramaram mandal, Mr.  D. Kotesh, Sarpanch, Mailaram Kindi Thanda, D. Rakesh, Deputy Sarpanch, Sri. S. Mallesh, PACS Chairman, B. Rajesh, AMC Vice Chairman, V. Archana, Panchayat Secretary, 25 farmers and 20 students of the Mandal Parishad Primary school of the village, all together 55 members have participated in the programme.

At the outset, Dr. Vijaya Lakshmi welcomed all the dignitaries and farmers for the training programme and also narrated main objectives as distribution of tree saplings and tarpaulins and multifarious benefits of growing trees along with crops and livestock in Agroforestry. Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu explained about tree wise cultivation practices for profitable cultivation of Mango, custard apple, guava, soapnut, redsanders, coconut, teak, mahogany based Agroforestry systems. He also encouraged the farmers to go for block plantation, bund plantation, border plantation wherever possible in their farms and also link with VB-G RAMG (Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission) programme for plantation and maintenance. He also appealed to the farmers and village administration to ensure 100% sapling survival with the help of water tankers due to prevailing El Nino induced drought conditions. Smt. Durgeshwari encouraged the farmers to adopt Agroforestry for additional income. The Chairman of PACS, AMC Vice Chairman and Panchayat Secretary thanked the scientists for selecting their village and conducting a training programme on Agroforestry under Tribal Sub plan. The students and teachers of Mandal Parishad Primary school of the village were also educated regarding various tree species and their benefits.

At the end, 1205 saplings (Mahogany-330, mango-150, guava-30, custard apple-25 Teak-180, sandalwood -200, Red sanders-200, coconut hybrid-120, sapota-50 and pomegranate-50) and tarpaulins -15 no. were distributed to 19 beneficiary farmers of the village.
