Observed the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking
Agricultural College, Adilabad, observed the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26 June 2026 with the objective of creating awareness among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of leading a healthy and responsible life.
The programme was organized in the college premises with active participation from faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students. During the programme, Dr. G. Manjulatha, Professor (Agro.) emphasized the serious health, social, and economic consequences of drug addiction and highlighted the need for collective efforts to prevent substance abuse among youth.
The Associate Dean Dr. Y. Praveen Kumar addressed the gathering highlighted importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, developing positive habits, and making informed choices was explained to the students. The participants were encouraged to spread awareness among their peers and communities regarding the dangers of drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking.
As part of the observance, all students participated in a Drug-Free India Pledge. The pledge was administered by the faculty, wherein students solemnly resolved to stay away from drugs, avoid all forms of substance abuse, and contribute towards creating a drug-free society.
A series of events were organized on this occasion which included
- Poster & slogan making in which the students designed impactful slogans with anti-drug message.
- Quiz competition was held with students learns on knowledge on ill effects of drugs & how to prevent drug abuse.
The certificates for the winners of the competition were given on this occasion.
The programme concluded with a call for continued awareness and vigilance against drug abuse. The participants expressed their commitment to safeguarding their health and working towards a safer and healthier future for society.
