The Agricultural College, Palem, under PJTAU, celebrated the 12 th International Day of Yoga
The Agricultural College, Palem, under Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University, celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga on 21st June 2026 with great enthusiasm and active participation. The programme aimed to create awareness about the importance of yoga in maintaining physical fitness, mental well-being, and overall health among students and staff members.
The programme was presided over by Dr. V. Hemalatha, Associate Dean, Agricultural College, Palem. The event was attended by Dr. V. Swarnalatha, Officer In-charge of Student Affairs; Dr. O. Shaila, Programme Coordinator, Krishi Vigyan Kendra; Smt. V. Sri Ramya, NSS Programme Officer; faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students. A total of 110 participants i.e. students andstaff took part in the celebration, reflecting their keen interest in adopting yoga as a healthy lifestyle practice.The chief guest for the occasion was Sri N. Shivaprasad, Yoga Expert and Government AYUSH Yoga Trainer. He highlighted the significance of yoga as an ancient Indian practice that promotes harmony between the body, mind, and spirit. He emphasized that regular practice of yoga helps improve flexibility, concentration, emotional stability, and immunity while reducing stress, anxiety, and lifestyle-related disorders.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. V. Hemalatha stressed the importance of incorporating yoga into daily routines for achieving a balanced and healthy life. She stated that yoga is not merely a physical exercise but a holistic approach to enhancing mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. She encouraged students and staff to practice yoga regularly to improve their quality of life and work efficiency. During the programme, the yoga trainer demonstrated various yoga asanas, pranayama techniques, meditation practices, and Surya Namaskars. The benefits, correct postures, and scientific importance of each practice were explained in detail. Participants enthusiastically performed the yoga exercises under expert guidance and gained practical knowledge about maintaining physical fitness and mental peace.The event also highlighted the theme of International Yoga Day, 2026 “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”, emphasizing the role of yoga in fostering a healthy society and promoting sustainable well-being. The programme served as an excellent platform to motivate students and staff to embrace yoga as a daily habit and contribute towards building a healthier community.The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks, wherein the organizers expressed their sincere gratitude to the chief guest, dignitaries, faculty members, students, and non-teaching staff for their wholehearted participation and support in making the programme a grand success.
