TRVK, Siddipet conducted Awareness Programme on Fine Grain Varieties and Alternate Sources of Nutrients to Plants

Telangana Rythu Vigyan Kendra conducted Awareness programme on Fine Grain Varieties and Alternate Sources of Nutrients to Plants at Komuravelly (V&M) Rythuvedika on 18.06.2026. Dr. Ch. Pallavi, Coordinator & Scientist (CP) to create awareness on the cultivation of quality fine grain varieties and the importance of integrated nutrient management for maintaining soil health and reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers. She explained the advantages of popular fine grain eight rice varieties, their grain quality, market demand, yield potential and suitable management practices. Farmers were advised to select varieties based on local agro-climatic conditions and consumer preferences to obtain higher returns. She emphasized the importance of adopting alternate sources of nutrients such as farmyard manure (FYM), vermicompost, green manures, crop residue incorporation, biofertilizers, poultry manure, oil cakes and microbial consortia. These organic and biological sources help in improving soil fertility, enhancing nutrient availability, increasing beneficial microbial activity and sustaining crop productivity. Later she highlighted the role of soil test-based fertilizer application and integrated use of organic and inorganic fertilizers for balanced nutrition. Farmers were advised to incorporate green manure crops, recycle crop residues and use biofertilizers like Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria (PSB) and other beneficial microorganisms to improve nutrient use efficiency and reduce production costs. Later farmers interacted with the scientists and clarified their doubts regarding control of stem borer incidence in paddy crop, nutrient management and sustainable farming practices. In this programme, ADA- T. Radhika, MAO-Venkatramamma, AEO-Bhaskar Reddy, Coromandel company Zonal manager, Marketing manager, District manager and 50 No.s of progressive farmers have attended.
