KVK, Bhadradri Kothagudem organized an awareness programme on the Khet Bachao Abhiyan Campaign and Dry Direct Seeding of Rice (DDSR) technology
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bhadradri Kothagudem organized an awareness programme on the Khet Bachao Abhiyan Campaign and Dry Direct Seeding of Rice (DDSR) technology at Upparigudem village, Charla Mandal, Bhadradri Kothagudem District on 17.06.2026. During the programme, Dr. T. Bharath, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Bhadradri Kothagudem, explained the importance of soil testing, soil test-based fertilizer application and balanced nutrient management for improving crop productivity and maintaining soil health. He highlighted the benefits of green manuring, organic farming, and natural farming in achieving sustainable agricultural production. A practical demonstration on soil sample collection procedures in paddy fields was also conducted for the benefit of farmers. Sri Buchibabu, ATMA Chairman, Bhadrachalam, briefed the farmers on crop diversification, natural farming practices, and encouraged them to utilize the services of Krishi Vigyan Kendra for improving farm productivity and profitability. Sri B. Shiva, Scientist (Horticulture), KVK Bhadradri Kothagudem, explained the balanced use of fertilizers in vegetable and fruit crops. He also informed participants about nutrition kitchen garden kits and backyard poultry as effective interventions for enhancing household nutrition and supplementary income.
Later, the team conducted a demonstration and created awareness on Dry Direct Seeding of Rice (DDSR) technology as an alternative to conventional transplanting. Farmers were informed that DDSR helps overcome labour shortages and reduces the cost of cultivation while ensuring efficient crop establishment. Smt. Nagalaxmi, Sarpanch, AEOs Sri Afridi and Sri Ramkrishna, along with 52 farmers participated actively in the programme
