TRVK, Siddipet organized Farmer-Scientist interaction on Wet DSR

Telangana Rythu Vigyan Kendra, Siddipet has organized Farmer-Scientist interaction on Wet DSR on 11.06.2026 at Chellapur (V), Dubbaka (M), Siddipet District. Dr. Ch. Pallavi, Coordinator & Scientist (CP) explained that wet DSR is a method that promises to alleviate challenges inherent in traditional paddy cultivation. Unlike the labour intensive and costly conventional transplanting method, which involves nursery management and labour expenses, the DSR offers a more efficient and cost-effective alternative. Certain advantages viz., it saves labour, requires less water, less drudgery, early crop maturity, low production cost, better soil physical conditions for following crops and less methane emission, provides better option to be the best fit in different cropping systems.  Comparative yields in wet DSR can be obtained by adopting various cultural practices viz., selection of suitable cultivars, proper sowing time, optimum seed rate, proper weed and water management. She also suggested the cultivation of green manure crops such as sunhemp, dhaincha and green gram to improve soil fertility and reduce fertilizer costs. Later Mandal Agricultural officer Smt. Priyadarshini advised to farmers not to burn paddy straw, as incorporating the crop residues into the soil helps improve soil fertility. In this programme, AEO-Anusha and 35 No.s of progressive farmers have attended.
