TRVK, Siddipet organized Training cum Awareness programme on “Pre-Kharif management practices in different crops
Training cum Awareness programme on “Pre-Kharif management practices in different crops” was organised by TRVK, Siddipet at Peddagundavelly (V), Dubbaka (M) on 04.06.2026. Dr. Ch. Pallavi, Coordinator & Scientist (CP) emphasized that farmers should start preparing in advance for the upcoming Kharif season. She stated that adopting scientific crop management practices in view of climate change, erratic rainfall, and increasing cultivation costs would help farmers achieve higher yields and better income. She advised farmers to collect soil samples from their fields and get them tested before the commencement of the season. Fertilizer application based on soil test recommendations would ensure balanced nutrient supply to crops and improve fertilizer use efficiency. She also suggested the cultivation of green manure crops such as sunhemp, dhaincha and green gram to improve soil fertility and reduce fertilizer costs. She further advised farmers to grow high-yielding, quality seeds that are suitable for the Kharif season and tolerant to major pests, diseases, and adverse weather conditions. She stressed the importance of seed treatment to minimize pest and disease incidence during the crop growth period. She highlighted the need for proper field drainage arrangements to prevent water stagnation and recommended the adoption of rainwater conservation measures to enhance moisture availability during dry spells. Considering the possibility of drought conditions, she encouraged farmers to adopt intercropping systems and cultivate short-duration crops such as vegetables, green gram, black gram, horse gram, and cowpea. She also recommended drought-tolerant crops like red gram to withstand moisture stress and ensure stable returns. Later Mandal Agricultural Officer K.S. Priyadarshini urged the farmers to not to burn crop residues and its effects on subsequent crops. In this programme, AEO-K. Sandhya, Panchayath secretary Balaraju, Sarpanch Smt. Vajravva and 42 No.s of progressive farmers have attended.
