Dr. P. Archana, Coordinator, Telangana Rythu Vignyan Kendram (TRVK), Mahabubnagar, participated as a resource person in the Rythu Varotsavalu programme conducted under the Praja Palana Pragathi Pranalika at the Market Yard, Mahabubnagar district. The programme was organized by the Department of Horticulture and Sericulture.
The Hon’ble MLA, Shri Yennam Srinivas Reddy garu, Mahabubnagar constituency graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He interacted with oil palm cultivating farmers and encouraged them to expand the area under oil palm cultivation to enhance their income.
Dr. P. Archana delivered a detailed lecture on the importance of crop diversification. She explained various crop diversification strategies involving field crops, vegetables, and oil palm. She also elaborated on crop planning, including cut-off dates, and provided scientific guidance on crop management practices for alternative crops such as oilseeds, pulses, cereals, and millets.
Shri Rampal, Assistant Director of Agriculture (ADA), Mahabubnagar, spoke on Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) in different crops. He emphasized reducing excessive use of urea and promoted the use of bio-fertilizers for sustainable agriculture.
Smt. Swapna, Horticulture Officer (HO), Mahabubnagar, explained government schemes related to horticultural crops, including subsidy provisions. She also shared technical knowledge on vegetable nursery raising techniques.
During the session, innovative farmers Sri Sreenivas Reddy (Vepur) and Sri Damodar Reddy (Gudimalkapur) shared their experiences in oil palm cultivation and highlighted its profitability for the farming community.
Smt. Anitha, AMC Chairman, emphasized the importance of organic cultivation and urged farmers to gradually move away from chemical-based farming. She encouraged adopting new ideas, modern techniques, and continuous learning for achieving profitable and sustainable agriculture.
The programme was attended by Smt. Anitha, AMC Chairman; Sri D. Krishna, District Cooperative Officer; District library chairman, agricultural officers of Mahabubnagar division; and around 180 farmers, making it a highly informative and impactful event.
