From the Vice-Chancellor’s Desk

Vice Chancellor

The origins of this esteemed University trace back to 6 January 1955, when the visionary educationalist and former President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, inaugurated the Agricultural College at Rajendranagar. Building on the Green Revolution spearheaded by India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, with its focus on large-scale irrigation and advancements in agricultural research and education, the Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University (APAU) was established on 12 June 1964 at Rajendranagar. This institution was formally dedicated to the farming community by Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on 3 March 1965. Following the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014, the University was restructured as Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University (PJTAU).
