Breeder Seed Monitoring Team Visit to Maize Inbred Line Seed Production Fields

Dr. D. Bhadru, Principal Scientist (Maize & Millets), visited the maize breeder seed production fields of BML 103, BML 104 and BML 106  at Maize Research Unit, ARI, Rajendranagar on 25.04.2026 along with  Smt. C. Susmitha, Scientist (Plant Breeding), Winter Nursery Centre, ICAR-IIMR, Hyderabad, Dr. K. Sukumar, Principal Scientist (Plant Breeding), SRTC, Rajendranagar, Sri M. Shivakumar, Assistant Director of Seed Certification, Telangana State Seed Certification Agency (TGSCOA),Hyderabad, Smt. Rubeena Afrin, Regional Manager, Telangana State Seeds Development Corporation (TGSDC), Hyderabad, and Smt. Anjali, Regional Manager (Production), National Seeds Corporation , secundrabad. During the field visit, Dr. D. Sravani, Scientist (Plant Breeding), MRU, Rajendranagar   briefed the team on the breeder seed production programme and explained the morphological characteristics and distinguishing features of BML 103, BML 104 & BML 106. The team closely examined crop stand, genetic uniformity, flowering behaviour, and overall field condition, and expressed satisfaction with the quality of breeder seed production being maintained. During the discussion, Dr. D. Bhadru, Principal Scientist (Maize & Millets), emphasized the promising yield potential of the parental line and its contribution to maize hybrid development, while also advocating for large-scale seed production to ensure timely distribution of quality seed to farmers and support wider adoption.
