  • Development of rice varieties with fine grain quality, high yield potential, gall midge/ multiple (gall midge, BPH, BLB and blast) resistance in different maturity groups for kharif season
  • Development of cold tolerant rice varieties with fine grain quality, having high yield potential with resistance to BPH, blast etc., suitable for rabi season
  • Development of high yielding gall midge resistant fine grain rice hybrids with good cooking quality 
  • Development of multiple resistant rice varieties for dry direct seeding
  • Monitoring of gall midge biotype virulence patterns
  • To evolve suitable management strategies against major insect pests of rice 
  • Development of mid early and medium duration pigeonpea varieties suitable for Telangana region
  • Development and identification of suitable greengram, blackgram and soybean varieties for different seasons (Verification function)
  • Identification of suitable cowpea varieties for Telangana state 
  • Development of agro techniques for high yields in pulse crops
  • Screening of pulses germplasm (pigeonpea, greengram, blackgram etc.,) against prevailing diseases, Insect pests and their management
  • To evolve/identify high yielding cotton hybrids (BG) /varieties suitable to irrigated and rain fed ecosystem
  • To develop agro techniques for higher yields with more economic returns in cotton 
  • Collection, evaluation and maintenance of germplasms bank of cotton for evolving high yielding varieties and hybrids
  • Screening of cotton varieties/hybrids against prevailing insect pests and diseases and developing suitable management strategies and practices.
  • Maintenance breeding of released varieties/hybrids of rice, pulses and cotton and their breeder seed production
  • Transfer of technology
