12th International Day of Yoga – Yoga for Healthy Ageing College of Agriculture

The 12th International Day of Yoga was celebrated at the College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar, PJTAU with active participation from students, faculty, and staff. The theme for this year, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” highlighted the role of yoga in promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being across all age groups.

As part of the celebrations, a yoga session was conducted at Sport complex, College of Agriculture,  PJTAU from 6:30 AM to 8:00 AM. The yoga session was conducted under the guidance of Yoga Guru Shri Madhuhas, who demonstrated various yoga asanas, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques. Participants actively performed the asanas and learned the benefits of incorporating yoga into their daily routine.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Venugopal Reddy, Dean of Student Affairs, emphasized the importance of yoga in enhancing both mental and physical health. He stated that regular practice of yoga and meditation improves concentration, reduces stress, and contributes to better performance in competitive examinations and academic pursuits. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ramana Rao, Dean of Agricultural Engineering, emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy body and mind in today’s fast-paced world. He noted that technological advancements have made life more convenient but have also increased sedentary lifestyles and stress levels. He encouraged students and staff to adopt yoga as a preventive healthcare practice that promotes fitness, mental clarity, and long-term well-being. The programme was presided over by Dr. Narendra Reddy, Associate Dean, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar. The event witnessed active participation from NSS Programme Officers- Dr. Prameela, Dr. D. Kalpana, Dr. A. Geetha, Dr. Shireesha, Dr. K. Shekar, Dr. Rajashekar, Dr.Y. Archana Karuni  Dr. V. Ram Reddy, Officer In-charge Student Affairs, Dr. K. Chaitanya, NCC Officer, faculty members, first- and second-year B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture students, NSS volunteers, and non-teaching staff.
