Krishi Vigyan Kendras
Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs – 8) are grassroots-level farm science centers of the concern districts established by ICAR to refine and disseminate agricultural technologies. Since the establishment of the first KVK in 1974, they have played a pivotal role in strengthening technology transfer, enhancing farm productivity and meeting the needs of diverse stakeholders across the country.
Mandate
- Technology assessment, refinement and demonstration
- On-farm testing for location-specific solutions
- Frontline demonstrations on farmers’ fields
- Capacity building of farmers and extension workers
- ICT-based advisories and information support
- Serve as knowledge and resource centers
- Production and supply of quality seeds and materials
- Document farm innovations and support ongoing schemes
