Department of Agricultural Extension Education

Agricultural extension education provides farmers and rural producers with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to improve farming practices, enhance productivity, and increase income. It bridges the gap between research, development, and the farming community, offering education, training, and advisory services to boost agricultural output and rural livelihoods. We aim to create an inspiring environment for students to thrive, fostering professionals who can compete globally. Our focus on agricultural research, international partnerships, and holistic student development strengthens entrepreneurial spirit, soft skills, and critical thinking, particularly in media and communication, while empowering students to uplift farmers and drive positive change.

    Student Experiences

I am Ph.D. Scholar from the Department of Agricultural Extension Education, PJTAU, having joined in 2020. The program spans six semesters, with the first three focused on coursework and the latter three on research. I completed five major courses, with “Methodologies for Social and Behavioural Research” being pivotal in understanding advanced research methodologies for social science and extension. Additionally, I undertook three minor, two supporting, and one non-credit course, including the impactful “Facilitation for People-Centric Development.” The proximity of MANAGE and EEI, Hyderabad, offered valuable exposure through workshops and training, strengthening my research capabilities and confidence.

The Ph.D. coursework provided a strong academic foundation for advanced research in agricultural extension. The course on Technology Commercialization and Incubation was particularly valuable, covering innovation management and technology transfer in agriculture. Additionally, the Educational Technology and Instructional Design course improved my understanding of using digital tools for knowledge dissemination in rural communities. The faculty's expertise and support, alongside collaborations with institutions like MANAGE and ICAR-NAARM, have enhanced my academic and professional development.
