The Women Protection Cell of BJR Agricultural College, Sircilla, conducted an awareness programme on “Women and Child Abuse” on 26 November 2025, from 4:30 PM to 5:45 PM, in collaboration with the Department for Women, Children, Disabled, Senior Citizens and Transgender Welfare, Rajanna Sircilla. The programme was organized in connection with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (25 November). The session began with opening remarks by Dr. Razia Sultana, In-charge Academic Dean, Professor (GPBR) and Chairperson, Women Protection Cell, who emphasized the importance of preventing violence against women and children. Smt. Roja, Women Empowerment Coordinator, delivered a detailed briefing on departmental initiatives, government schemes, and essential support services. She highlighted key helpline numbers such as 1098 (Child Helpline) and 181 (Sakhi One Stop Centre), and provided information on the POCSO Act and the Transgender Protection Act, along with real-life examples to enhance student awareness. Mr. Laxmi Raj, District Welfare Officer, further discussed ongoing government efforts to combat abuse and encouraged students to spread awareness among vulnerable groups. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. P. Madhavi, Assistant Professor (SSAC) and member of the Women Protection Cell. Students, faculty, non-teaching, and support staff attended the awareness session.
