Telangana Rythu Vigyan Kendra (TRVK), Siddipet has organized training programme on Weather based crop management for Rabi season at Bachayapally (V), Siddipet Rural (M), Siddipet (Dt) on 02.02.2026. Dr. S. G. Mahadevappa, Principal Scientist, ACRC, Hyderabad explained about Weather based crop management for Rabi season. Paddy, maize, and sunflower should be sown at the right time, crop damage due to high temperatures and hailstorms during Yāsangi can be avoided, leading to higher yields. He also mentioned that the incidence of pests and diseases would be reduced, thereby decreasing the use of chemical pesticides. He informed the farmers that details about weather changes, five-day weather forecasts, and improved crop management practices are available in the form of bulletins. He advised farmers to use the Meghdoot and Damini mobile applications to get timely updates on weather conditions. Later, Dr. Ch. Pallavi, Coordinator, TRVK Siddipet explained that cultivating alternative crops to paddy such as maize, sunflower, green gram, black gram, sesame, vegetables, and safflower would promote and help in effectively controlling the stem borer pest, which is a major problem. She crop diversification further stated that these crops require less water, have a shorter duration, involve lower investment, and provide higher yields. Later, Ms. Padma, ADA from the Department of Agriculture, informed the farmers that from today onwards, urea booking must be done only through the mobile application, and she explained how to use the app. Later, Method demonstration of Borax in sunflower at button stage with Drone was done involving farmers and RAWEP students. In this programme, Sri. Naresh (MAO) and AEO (Sumithra), Sarpanch Premalatha, Upa sarpanch Aruna and 100 farmers were participated.
