TRVK, Siddipet (formerly DAATTC, Tornala) organised “Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA)” along with RAWEP students on 18-08-2025 at Ghanapur, Gudikandula, Venkatapur, Mundrai, Ankireddypally villages of Siddipet District. Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) is a methodological approach that is used to enable farmers to analyses their own situation and to develop a common perspective on natural resource management and agriculture at village level. It is conducted for identifying the problems for prioritization in the village itself with social map revealing the Layout of the village i.e. houses, roads, village institutions etc., resource map indicating the natural resources of the village. Black soils, red soils, canal, railway line and uplands available in the village, time line Indicating the major events or phenomenon occurred in a village in a chronological order, time trend showing the quantitative changes in different aspects of agriculture (change in the maize yields between 2010 to 2025, seasonal calendar indicating the monthwise activities in agriculture, venn diagram depicting the relationship between village people and the key institutions, Matrix ranking grading things according to their quality or achievements. This technique was conducted to know the crop which is more suitable to this village. The technique indicated that, Cotton is a suitable crop for this village and Preference ranking used for knowing the vague prioritization of problems of farmers. Students and villagers listed out the problems faced by the village people. According to the preference of village people, the health related facilities, transport and labour availability are the major problems in the village. It is an assessment and learning process that empowers farmers to create the information base they need for participatory planning and action. Outsiders contribute facilitation skills and external information and opinions. In this programme, Dr.Ch. Pallavi, Coordinator, TRVK, Siddipet, Dr. Madhavi, Assistant professor, RAWEP students from BJR agricultural college, Sircilla, Agricultural Extension Officers M. Devender, M. Navya, G. Pranyusha, M. Chaitanya and 95 farmers participated.
