A field day on High-Density Planting System (HDPS) cotton was organized today at Kottala village of Andole mandal under the guidance of the Telangana Rythu Vigyan Kendra (TRVK), Sangupet. The program was conducted in the field of farmer M. Chandra Shekar Reddy, who adopted the HDPS method for cotton cultivation. Speaking on the occasion, RVK Coordinator and Scientist Sri. K. Rahul Vishwakarma explained that compared to normal cotton cultivation, the HDPS method increases the number of plants per acre—about 22,222 to 25,000 plants—which leads to higher yields. He mentioned that because the crop duration is shorter and the flowering and boll formation occur uniformly, the harvest can be completed earlier, helping farmers escape pink bollworm infestation and ensuring better net income. The farmer also shared his experience, stating that the crop growth and flowering were excellent under this method. District Agriculture Officer Sri. K. Shiva Prasad addressed the farmers, highlighting that HDPS allows farmers to complete the first crop early and provides an opportunity to sow a second crop within the same year. The event was attended by Jogipet Division Assistant Director of Agriculture G. Rama Devi, Mandal Agriculture Officer Srihari, AEOs, Young Professional-2 Rekha Manoj, Young Professional-1 S. Srikanth, K. Akash, Nuziveedu Seeds Marketing Manager Shiva Kumar, Veda Seeds Marketing Manager Balaji, and several farmers from the village.
